Scientifically, sunlight has many benefits to our health.
Improves sleep, the body creates a hormone called melatonin which is essential to help you sleep. Because the body creates it when it's dark, you usually start feeling sleepy 2 hours after the sun goes down, which is one of the reasons our bodies naturally stay awake later in the summer.
An hour of natural light in the morning will help you sleep better, sunlight regulates the circadian rhythm by telling the body when to increase and decrease melatonin levels.
Therefore, the more exposure to daylight, the better the body will produce melatonin when it is time to go to sleep.
It also helps us reduce stress because being outdoors will help the body regulate melatonin naturally.
Outdoor exercises (Walking/Hiking, Running, just plain sweating in the outdoors) also helps reduce stress levels in a major way. It also helps keep strong bones. Vitamin D is produced by the body when we are exposed to the outdoors.
15 minutes a day of sunlight is enough to have decent levels of calcium and not let the bones become brittle, thin or misshapen. Sunbathing may be just what the doctor ordered.
Sun bathing also strengthens the immune system. A healthy immune system can help reduce the risk of disease, infection, some cancers, and mortality after surgery.
Sunbathing also helps to lose weight, exercising between 8:30 am – 12:00 pm in the outdoors, helps to lose weight and against depression.
So what are you waiting for? Let's go sunbathing for health’s sake!
